Anaemia In Infants Is There A Link Between A Vegetarian Diet And Pernicious Anaemia?

Is there a link between a vegetarian diet and pernicious anaemia? - anaemia in infants

I enjoyed a vegetarian diet for many years. Now I am in my sixties and have been diagnosed with pernicious anemia. Is there a link between diet and disease? The three monthly injections are painful. Is there a nutritional supplement, can I take?
I do not eat meat again, no matter the consequences.

To do Des age or genetics, and his belly is no longer able to absorb vitamin B12. Eating large amounts of nutritional yeast, eggs, meat or not corrected this problem.

Since the NIH website. ----
"Pernicious anemia is caused by a lack of intrinsic factor. Intrinsic factor is produced a protein that binds vitamin B12 from the stomach. The combination of vitamin B12 and intrinsic factor is absorbed in the small intestine. When the stomach is not enough intrinsic factor, the intestine can not absorb vitamin B12. "

Age is probably the most important factor that you PA. Unfortunately, as the lining of the stomach is bigger, B12 is absorbed less readily, which can cause a variety of reasons, not least the intrinsic factor that is produced when the vitamin B12 deficiency.

Of course, consume, if you are a vegetarian, and enough vitamin B12 can seem a lot, if the AP test is not specially made and the diagnosis made only in the presence of certain types of blood cells (megaloblastic anemia). PA is precisely the lack of ability to make vitamin B12 was despite adequate amounts of food or do not show blood levels of anemia.

Megadoses of Vitamin B12 is another option, but not one that common or widely accepted. The vaccines are much more reliable, especially if the problem really start due to the inability of the stomach, vitamin B12.

You should discuss with your doctor, because there is no way to know your complete medical history on the Internet.

:) Good luck
